These are the most common questions we get from potential guests.

Do you snorkel at the Captain Cook monument?

We primarily snorkel at a marine conservation area called Pawai Bay in Kona, or at sites  just outside of the Kaloko Honokohau National park, and O’oma Bay.

Kealakekua Bay (where the Captain Cook Monument is) is a bit too far away from the harbor we are in. It takes us over 2 hours just to get there. It is a historic place and very popular with the guide books, but because of that it tends to be very crowded with boats and people which also makes it a less appealing snorkel site for us.

Do you offer a dinner cruise?

Due to permit requirements from the Department of Health, we are not able to provide hot food. We provide light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages during our charters.
Guests are welcome to bring alcohol and additional food if desired.  There are a couple of local restaurants our guests have had good experiences with which offer takeout.  One called Umekes and another called Lava Java.  That might be a good option if the group prefers to eat dinner during the charter.

Do you only offer private charters or can we join with another group?

Unfortunately we no longer offer mixed charters.  The demand for private charters has increased so much since the pandemic that we changed our format to only offering private charters.  That format has been working out well for our small mom & pop business. Unfortunately that means we don’t really have an affordable way to accommodate very small groups anymore. We apologize for any disappointment.  If we start offering shared charters again, we will definitely add it to our website.

Do you offer fishing?

Our primary focus is on sailing, snorkeling, dolphin and whale watching. Unfortunately our boat is not currently set up for fishing.

What do we need to bring?

If you plan on swimming or snorkeling, please bring towels.
We also recommend bringing sunscreen.
If you are joining a sunset cruise, it is nice to have a light jacket available as well.

Are tips included in the price?

Gratuities are not included in the booking price. Tips are appreciated but never expected. If your crew did a good job, feel free to leave them a tip. Cash is alway appreciated but Venmo works fine as well.

Where do you depart from?

We depart from Honokohau Harbor in Kona. It's about 30 minutes south of the Waikoloa Beach Resort area. Click here for detailed directions and a map.

How far in advance can I book?

You can book your sailing trip with us at any time, as long as we have availability. We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred date and time, but we're happy to accommodate last-minute plans if we have openings.

I am worried about the weather, can I trust the forecast on my phone?

Not really. The weather in Kona is very difficult to predict and unfortunately the forecast is usually of little value, especially more than one day out.

We do pay close attention to multiple sources of weather and surf predictions to help us make informed decisions based on experience.

Generally speaking, Kona has the nicest conditions in the morning and we rarely have to cancel unless there are high winds or very large surf that day.

If we do need to cancel due to weather, we either reschedule or give a full refund.

The best way to reach us is by using the form below to send us an email. You can also phone or text us at (808) 883-0399

We strive to provide excellent customer service and answer all inquiries as soon as possible.  When we are out on a charter, however, we may not be available to answer the phone.  Please email or send a text message if we don't answer and we will call you back as soon as we are available.
